Summing Up the Week: Happiness Guaranteed

FRIENDSHIPS

I know each and everyone of us is going through tough stuff right now. For my family the last 7 days has been incredibly trying. We have had to make some tough decisions. I believe they are right decisions, but none the less difficult. Every time I thought I was just about to break, a friend would randomly call or text and provide just the right encouragement. Whether it was a new way to look at the same problem, a fresh idea that I had not thought possible, or just speaking words of encouragement. It’s in these friendships and relationships we cultivate that we find happiness. I am so thankful for each of them.

PINTEREST

I did it! I setup the Ledger and Ladder Pinterest account. I have setup the boards for our Studio projects, blog, and Instagram posts. I also had a lot of fun just pinning all kinds of inspiration. I went down the rabbit hole of fall fashion and I really can’t wait for fall to get here now. Also, I discovered a few easy to do (or I think easy to do) hairstyles you will likely see me sporting. It really is the small things that are bringing me so much joy. To see all the things that inspiring me right now, follow the Studio on Pinterest.

THE POWER OF TRUSTING YOUR GUT

As I sit at my new work from home situation, I am feeling a bit paralyzed on the next steps. I have been consuming so much information, trying to absorb, and synthesize it into a roadmap for this studio. It is daunting to sift through all the opinions, advice, and statistics and determine what is the best path for my company. This is coming from some who spent 14 years in consulting working with a wide range of companies. The countless times an owner, when asked why they chose to do something, just smiled said “it just felt right”. The eye roll I would mentally give my client while simultaneously thinking how in the world did your company make it this far if that is how you make decisions. Ha, I have turned into my clients. As a business owner sometimes you just have to throw caution to the window and trust your gut. It such a powerful tool that sometimes intimidates me, but I am starting to utilize it more and more.

Always trust your gut. It knows what your head hasn’t yet figured out.

WORK FROM HOME

I finally broke down and came up with a creative work from home space which I will be revealing next week. I have been moving between the dining room table and our bedroom carrying all my work stuff in a box to and fro. It was less than ideal. Why you ask? Our house is a little less than 1,300 SQ FT and I just didn’t feel like we had the space to carve out for my office. Well let me tell you, I made the space and I am LOVING my new work from home situation. I didn’t know I could be so happy about an office space. No matter the size of your house your house, with a little creativity you can make your house work for you and hopefully fall in love with every inch of it. I can’t wait to reveal my space and hopefully, it inspires you find your space no matter the size of your house.

PROJECT PROPOSAL

Friday, I completed a project proposal that I have been working on for 3 weeks. It didn’t take all 3 weeks, but I gave myself enough time to get right and not stress myself out. Not only did I turn it in, I turned it in a day earlier than I promised. Under promise and over deliver, I love the happiness it brings me and our clients.

So what does all this have do with guaranteed happiness? Well happiness is guaranteed if you invest in friendships, find inspiration all around you, give yourself the space you need, and take time to enjoy the journey. Have a great weekend.

That about sums it up,

Jocelyn
